This is my second CGI project where I served as a director and writer at Wargaming. It's one of the most ambitious projects our team has undertaken, as we aimed to showcase the quality of our work to potential clients. I'm immensely grateful for the trust and feedback from everyone involved! I'm proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to this project. Every shot is the result of teamwork!
As an Environmental artist, I crafted landscape meshes from heightfield maps for two colonization scenes, employing scattering and instancing techniques to enhance detail. Huge thanks to my teammates for their invaluable advice and assistance in this endeavor! The lighting and rendering of that scene were executed by our team, my focus was solely on mesh creation and masks for shading. I also lighted all open space shots. Below, you can witness the evolution of this project.
Aiming to attract 4X strategy game players, this trailer featured a storyline inspired by one of my gaming sessions, reflecting the traditional development phases. It focused on the essential aspects of the 4X strategy: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. The main message centered on the challenging moral choices players encounter at the height of their progress.
Below is a storyboard and 2D animatic that I drew and assembled to present this story. Many thanks to Eugene Smozhevsky for his immersive voice acting, which helped convey the main message. We won the tender!
